Honda Aircraft Company has unveiled a new and upgraded aircraft, the "HondaJet Elite S," at a virtual product launch event themed "Innovation Continues: Elite S." The HondaJet Elite S features several upgrades that expand operational capability and improve flight operation. The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Bombardier, Inc., Model BD-700-1A10 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report indicating that during installation, a fuel pipe bracket assembly on the intermediate rib in the center fuel tank was mislocated, resulting in an offset between the fitting assembly and the refuel/defuel tube assembly. This AD requires modification of the fuel pipe bracket assembly, including all related investigative actions and corrective actions, if necessary; and performing an operational test of the refuel and defuel system. The ICAO Council, last week, expressed its strong concern at the apparent forced diversion of Ryanair Flight FR4978, a commercial passenger aircraft flying in Belarus airspace on Sunday, 23 May 2021. At a special meeting convened, the ICAO Governing Body underlined the importance of establishing the facts of what happened, and of understanding whether there had been any breach by any ICAO Member State of international aviation law, including the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention) and its Annexes.

The first and only female executive director for USPA, Laura MacKenzie passed away after a long illness on Saturday, May 22. MacKenzie was the executive director of the United States Parachute Association from December 1, 1976, until March 1978, and was the first staff member hired by then-Executive Director Donald Beach when USPA moved from Monterey, California, in 1975. As the executive director, MacKenzie handled everything from hiring staff, accounting and office administration to acting as assistant meet director of the 1976 USPA National Championships.

Halo has placed a firm order for 200 Eve Urban Air Mobility vehicles -- making it the launch customer for this aircraft. The electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft have an expected delivery date in 2026. One hundred of the vehicles will be used for operations in the United States and 100 will operate in the United Kingdom. In addition, Halo announced the alignment of U.K.-based Halo Aviation Ltd. (Halo) and U.S.-based Associated Aircraft Group (AAG) under the Halo brand. Both companies had been acquired earlier this year by OneSky Flight, a member of the Directional Aviation family.

On May 12, 2021 about 1530 Central Daylight Time, an Aerospatiale (Airbus) AS350 B2, helicopter, N841BP, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Yukon, Oklahoma. The pilot and flight instructor received minor injuries. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 public aircraft instructional flight. According to the crew, the flight was intended flight was for the Initial Pilot Certification course for the AS350 B2. The flight departed the Roy Rogers International Airport (OKC) for Clarence Page Municipal Airport (RCE) to conduct training maneuvers.

A SECNOT is a request originated by the Air Traffic Security Coordinator (ATSC) for an extensive communications search for aircraft involved, or suspected of being involved, in a security violation, or are considered a security risk. A SECNOT will include the aircraft identification, search area, and expiration time. The search area, as defined by the ATSC, could be a single airport, multiple airports, a radius of an airport or fix, or a route of flight. Once the expiration time has been reached, the SECNOT is considered to be canceled.
