Airborne 05.31.17: Blues At Oshkosh!, FAA v Vlogger, Heroic Military Flt

Also: USC Rocket, Bristell Shares, NASA Leadership, GAMA, Navy-Marine F/A-18s, Espionage, Waterproof Drone

Plans are solidifying in advance of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels’ first full team performance at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, with full demonstration times now set for Friday and Saturday, July 28-29.

The Blue Angels will fly their full practice show on Friday, July 28, from 4-5 p.m., in the midst of that day’s afternoon air show. On Saturday, July 29, the Blues will fly the final act of the afternoon air show, beginning at 5 p.m. On each of those days, special crowd lines will be in effect at Wittman Regional Airport. These crowd lines are generally similar to those in place for the Thunderbirds and Snowbirds performances flown previously. An Internet filmmaker has run afoul of the FAA for using a drone to capture some of his footage. The filmmaker is Casey Neistat, and he's reportedly no stranger to controversy. But in the video on which he made the announcement, he was doing a product review of the new DJI Spark. The Clarence Mackay Trophy is awarded for accomplishing the most meritorious flight of the year. This year, an AC-130U aircrew from Air Force Special Operations Command was honored. The entire crew was recognized for their valiant effort during a particular mission. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
