Paul Poberezny Memorial Set For Sunday Before AirVenture

EAA Founder Passed Away Last August At The Age Of 91

The night before AirVenture’s gates open on Monday morning, July 28, before throngs of aviation enthusiasts immerse themselves in the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration, a brief, solemn ceremony will be held to honor the man who made it all possible.

EAA Chaplain Pastor Ed Riddick will lead the celebration of the life of EAA Founder Paul H. Poberezny, who passed away last August at age 91. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, at the EAA Memorial Wall. Also making remarks will be EAA Chairman Jack Pelton, and the ceremony will feature a missing man formation flight led by EAA’s B-17 Aluminum Overcast accompanied by P-51 Mustangs.

The approximately 30-minute ceremony will be standing room only and is open to all EAA members.
