Daher Operates Logistics Hub for Airbus Helicopters

First-of-its-Kind Automated and Robotized Facility in Aviation

Airbus Helicopters on July 2 officially opened its new logistics hub in Albecete, Spain. The facility is designed, equipped, and operated by Daher, the lead logistics partner of Airbus Helicopters and industrial giant in aircraft and related manufacturing, industrial services, and logistics.

The 50,000 square meter warehouse is located next to the Airbus Helicopters production plant and will optimize operations while creating hundreds of new skilled jobs for the region. To provide the highest level of service, Daher utilized a storage system that is highly automated and robotized. The first-of-its-kind in aeronautics, the facility uses state-of-the-art technology from the top warehouse systems specialist, France-based Exotec. The technology employed reduces the total amount of storage space necessary, while also providing the requisite efficiency and significantly reducing operator movement around the site. Together, those features optimize quality control, reduce human error, and improve working conditions.

The facility will eventually employ over 300 people, most of whom will be operators recruited and trained in a partnership between Daher and the Confederation of Employers of Albecete (FEDA).
