Another Round For TSA’s Pekoske

Pekoske Slated For Second Term As TSA Administrator

A few days ago, on 6 May 2022, President Joe Biden announced his nomination of David Pekoske, current Administrator of the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) for a second term.

Mr. Pekoske’s initial 5-year term was coming to an end, so he will now be staying on through 2027. The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) announced its support for Mr. Pekoske’s nomination.

Mr. Pekoske will still need to go through a confirmation process, and if there are no hurdles/objections, then he is expected to continue his efforts to improve transportation security across road, air, rail, or sea, and his support by NATA demonstrates confidence in his ability to perform.

Before his time with the TSA, Mr. Pekoske worked in industry, leading teams providing services such as counterterrorism, security, and intelligence to government agencies. He was also the 26th Vice Commandant after a long career with the US Coast Guard, and has expertise in crisis management, strategic planning, innovation, aviation, surface transportation and maritime security.
