Two Sent To A SoCal Hospital When Aeronca 11-AC Goes Down Near LA

Airplane Landed Between Two Buildings In Pacoima Northwest Of LA

Two people survived an accident in which the Aeronca 11-AC they were flying went down between two buildings just before noon Saturday in Pacoima, CA, northwest of Los Angeles.

The two who were on board, who have not been identified, reportedly walked out of the area where the airplane went down, which was reportedly less than a mile from the Whiteman Airport (KWHP) runway. The 1946 11-AC (similar airplane pictured in file photo, Not accident aircraft) came down between two buildings, impacting a wrought iron fence and two vehicles, according to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News. There was no fire, but a fire department spokesman said that fuel was leaking from the airplane. Photographs of the scene show one person being moved on a stretcher to an ambulance

FAA records indicate that the plane was registered to Arthur Wasserman and Christina Merrick. Wasserman is listed at the principal owner, with an address in Van Nuys, CA. It is shown with its nose and right wing heavily damaged on the concrete block wall in a nose-down attitude.

Fire Department Spokesman Erik Scott told the paper that the people on board the airplane had been transported to an area hospital. One was in fair condition, the other reportedly sustained "serious" injuries.
