Jersey Drone Scare: FAA Authorized Drones For Research, Other Purposes

White House Statement Confirms Drones ‘Not The Enemy’

In a statement that comes as a surprise to no one, the White House said that the drone activity over New Jersey were in fact authorized by the FAA. It is not yet clear why the agency was not forthcoming about this activity, given the hysteria generated by the thousands of sightings not just there, but all up and down the Northeast as well as other states.

In the statement, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “From President Trump directly, an update on the New Jersey drones. After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized by the FAA for research and various other reasons. Many of the drones were also hobbyists, recreational, and private individuals that enjoy flying drones and in time it got worse due to curiosity. This was not the enemy.”

In December, President-elect Trump said the Biden administration knew more than it was telling the public about the drones. At the time, he said, "They know where it came from and where it went. And for some reason, they don't want to comment. And I think they'd be better off saying what it is. Our military knows and our president knows. And for some reason, they want to keep people in suspense."

One still wonders, what sort of research is the FAA conducting that requires large numbers of drones to fly near populated areas at night? Not to mention, what the “various other reasons” might be. And also not to mention, why the secrecy?

Unfortunately, those answers are not forthcoming at this time. However, if it’s classified for national security, tell us it’s classified for national security rather than being mysteriously silent about it.
