Two Skydivers Injured In New Zealand Accident

Impacted The Ground On Landing At About 54 Knots

An accident let two skydivers seriously injured in New Zealand, when they impacted the ground at about 54 knots, according to local media reports.

The two were participating in a tandem training skydive with NZONE Skydive. They were supposed to perform a low turn at slow speed as they came in to land, according to a report from the New Zealand Herald.

The company released a statement acknowledging the accident, but offered no details.

The company was closed Saturday after the accident, but anticipated reopening Sunday. "Our immediate concerns are obviously for the wellbeing of the staff involved, and we are not in a position to comment further on their injuries or speculate as to what may have happened," NZONE Skydive General Manager Clark Scott told the paper.

The two skydivers were transported to a local hospital in Queenstown, NZ with serious injuries, according to officials.
