OK... not exactly an Affordable Flyer but certainly notable in sport aviation circles... there is a 35% scale homebuilt B-29 plying the skies these days... the extraordinary result of builder Tom Hodgson’s long-running development of the third scale replica, powered by 4 Honda Fit engines with a number of specially designed accessories to deliver enough power to get this 50 foot wingspan monster off in just 300 feet... on grass. Fuel Issue Fixed, Plane Takes Off Again

A pilot who was experiencing what he thought was fuel starvation was able to safely land on I-25 about 23 miles north of Cheyenne, Wyoming. The pilot, also an A&P, diagnosed the problem and fixed it with tools he had on hand. Then he continued on to his destination in Oregon after departing Scottsbluff, Nebraska earlier in the day.

In May 2024 Congress passed the Dustoff Crews of the Vietnam War Congressional Gold Medal Act. Embraer Expanding MRO Network To Alliance Airport

Will Build Second Hangar For Supporting E-Jet Fleet

Brazil-based Embraer announced it is expanding its network of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities in the U.S. The company will open a new owned service center at Perot Field/Fort Worth Alliance Airport (KAFW) in Fort Worth, Texas. Embraer will partner with the City of Fort Worth, Denton County, and State of Texas to start operations in an existing hangar in early 2025, while building a second hangar it anticipates will open in 2027. The new facilities for service operations will significantly add to Embraer’s capacity to support its E-Jet customers in the U.S.

NTSB Prelim: Jon Bergstedt JP Flyer

Engine Appeared Not To Have Been Producing Full Takeoff Power

On September 14, 2024, at 0930 Alaska daylight time, an experimental amateur-built, JP Flyer, N1202Y, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Wasilla, Alaska. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulation Part 91 personal flight. According to a close friend, the accident pilot rebuilt the airplane, which originated as a Piper PA-12 airplane at his home in Anchorage, Alaska, and transported it to Anderson Lake Airport (0AK1) to be assembled in the friend’s hangar.
