The Boeing Company has reported a third-quarter profit of $15.3 billion, reporting higher commercial airplane sales and service volume amidst an improving economy. Though the company seems to have suffered a decade’s worth of bad luck in less than a year, the outlook is fairly positive, with strong sales interest and service agreements. In-Flight Average of ~25 Mbps, 80 Mbps Peak 

Gogo has released its speed expectations for the newest Gogo 5G network, saying the average of 25 mbps is expected, with peak speeds near 80 mbps. With rollout of their 5G coverage continuing this year, users will see improved performance on the Avance network, enjoying 4G performance nationwide, with increasing next-gen coverage. Speeds were evaluated and averaged across eight of Gogo’s high-priority, frequently traveled routes. New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas all showed strong network performance and nearly terrestrial broadband speeds.

Maritime Search and Rescue Sensor Pod Tested for Patrol Duties

Diamond Special Mission Aircraft Division (SMAD), where the distinctive Austrian manufacturer creates its special-sauce versions of ordinary GA airplanes, underwent live demonstration of a new sensor system equipped on their twin engine DA42 MPP. Working alongside Australian company Sentient Vision Systems, Diamond has installed a prototype Visual Detection and Ranging (ViDAR) pod, a Trakka Electro-Optic/Infrared (EO/IR) gimbal, and an AIS receiver. The total package is hoped to become a high endurance, affordable, maritime patrol aircraft. 

75th Anniversary Routine Flying Oct. 30-31

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are headlining the ninth annual Wings Over North Georgia Drive-in Air Show this week, their only 2021 appearance in the state. This season is a special year, as the team celebrates their 75th anniversary. Due to the record breaking attendance for their 2017 performance, tickets are required, and selling quickly. One pilot on the team will return to his home state, flying the Number 6 aircraft for the Angels’ routine as the opposing solo pilot. Lieutenant Commander Cary Rickoff, a graduate of Atlanta’s Riverwood High, joined the Blue Angels in 2018 and has logged more than 2,000 hours and 180+ carrier landings throughout his flying career.

Acquires Hill Aviation, Operations at San Juan and Ceiba, Puerto Rico

Modern Aviation has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hill Aviation, LLC, including the FBO and MRO operations at Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, along with a satellite FBO location at Jose Aponte de la Torre Airport in Ceiba. Buying the operations from Tommy Hill and VRM companies, Modern has no plans to change Propilot aircraft management and charter businesses at its San Juan location, Isla Grande Airport.

On October 14, 2021, about 1551 eastern daylight time, an experimental, amateur-built Velocity SE RG, N755V, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Titusville, Florida. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.
