Two Thought Dead In Montana Mishap Walk Out Of The Woods

When Flathead County (MT) Sheriff Jim Dupont saw the crash scene, he figured no one could have gotten out alive. A Cessna 206 had gone down in rough weather not far from the town of Kalispell. On board were the pilot and four Forest Service workers. Dupont called a news conference and said all five aboard had been killed.

Wreckage Found In Grand Canyon Could Be From 1956 Midair

Copperstate Fly-In Scheduled For October 7-10

The Copperstate Air Show and EAA Fly-In has a 32-year legacy in Arizona. This year's event is being held in the rapidly expanding area between Maricopa and Casa Grande. Phoenix Regional Airport is about 7 miles southeast of Maricopa on the Maricopa/Casa Grande road and about 8 miles northwest of Casa Grande. The event features acres of free parking for automobiles and acres of green grass for aircraft parking and camping. The park-like atmosphere and many peripheral activities make this a wonderful family-oriented event. There are no grandstands. Blankets and lawn chairs are ideal accessories for an enjoyable afternoon of viewing the performances.

Raytheon Company's unitary/penetration variant of Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW-C) has completed operational test (OT) firings with nine of 10 shots successful against a wide range of targets. TSA Pushes New Security Technology at Airport Passenger Checkpoints

In a significant technology advancement, the TSA Wednesday announced the deployment at three additional major airports of a new Explosives Trace Detection Document Scanner that can "sniff" passenger documents such as boarding passes and drivers' licenses for traces of explosives. Feted For Contributions to the Advancement of General Aviation

Eclipse Aviation's president and CEO, Vern Raburn, has received the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Piper General Aviation Award for 2004. The award was presented to Raburn during at an AIAA conference in Chicago on Tuesday.

Source: Midwest spokeswoman Carol Skornicka, defending her airline after someone on a flight from Milwaukee to San Francisco Sunday night noticed what looked like Arabic handwriting on a page inside the in-flight magazine. The passenger told the cabin crew, the cabin crew told the flight crew and the flight crew decided it would be better to be safe than sorry. The aircraft returned to the gate and the passengers were offloaded into hotels for the night. In the end, Skornicka said the writing was actually Farsi and was something like a prayer, "something of a contemplative nature."
