Flight Returns To Dulles Over Reclining Seat

Passengers Scuffled When One Reclined, The Other Objected

A United flight from Dulles near Washington, DC (KIAD) en route to Ghana returned to the Virginia airport after one passenger smacked another over a reclined seat. The flight was escorted back to Dulles by Air Force jets.

The Washington Post reports that one passenger reclined his seat shortly after takeoff Sunday night, which did not sit well with the passenger seated behind him. A fight broke out, and a flight attendant and a third passenger had to break up the scuffle.

According to a report on CNN, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said when the plane arrived back at Dulles, it was met by airport police, who declined to file charges. The flight, however, was unable to depart again until Monday.
