Bombardier CS100 Flight Tests Continue

FTV1 Flies Again

Bombardier has confirmed that CSeries FTV1 took to the skies again from its home base of Mirabel, Quebec, on Tuesday, October 1st.

Following the 'meticulous review of over 14,000 data points from the first flight' and upon completion of aircraft’s re-configuration and software upgrades for the next set of flight tests, FTV1 once again reached an altitude of 12,000 feet, at speeds of 230 knots.

“This follow up flight test was exceptionally clean as we performed a series of value-added tests that actually included a first-round collection of noise data – and though early in the program – I have to say our flight sciences teams on the ground are officially impressed with our findings so far,” said Rob Dewar, Vice President and General Manager, CSeries Program.

“We are additionally pleased that FTV1 performed a smooth, superb landing. The flight crew is eager to take to the skies yet again in the coming days.”

This was the second flight for FTV1, following the maiden flight on September 16th... which marked the start of the CSeries aircraft’s flight test program leading up to the first customer delivery, and was also the first flight for Pratt & Whitney’s new Geared Turbofan™ PurePower engine as part of an aircraft certification program.

A total of five CS100 flight test vehicles, all of which are currently in various stages of assembly, will join the flight test program in the coming months.
