ANN Major Sponsor L-3 Avionics Systems Helps Bring Oshkosh 2007 To You!

L-3 Has YOUR Safety In Mind...

L-3 Avionics Systems is a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced cockpit avionics for general aviation, business jet, air transport and military markets.

The company provides a wide array of avionics safety technologies such as the GH-3000 electronic and J.E.T.® standby instruments, SkyWatch® Collision Avoidance Systems, Landmark™ Terrain Awareness Warning Systems (TAWS), Stormscope® weather mapping systems and the new IRIS™ Infrared Imaging System. L-3 Avionics is known for making advanced technologies affordable for General Aviation pilots.

IRIS: Flying At Night Will Never Be The Same

L-3 Avionics Systems' new IRIS makes enhanced vision affordable for all types of aircraft. This revolutionary system improves visibility of almost any object, day or night.

IRIS displays a real-time, gray-scale image of the runway environment, other aircraft, terrain, people, animals and obstacles on a cockpit display. These images provide pilots with better situational awareness during taxi and ramp operations and an additional horizon reference during departure and approach. At night and during poor visibility conditions, IRIS helps pilots see obstacles that are invisible to the naked eye. During the day, pilots can see obstacles otherwise obscured by bright oncoming light or solar glare.

Unlike competitors, IRIS features patented Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) detector technology, which makes it immune to solar radiation. It provides an uninterrupted, continuously calibrated image with unsurpassed 320 x 240 pixel clarity, even during turns and maneuvers. IRIS provides a smooth, consistent image at an affordable price.

SkyWatch: Better From Every Angle

For more than 10 years, pilots have trusted L-3 Avionics' SkyWatch Collision Avoidance Systems to help them fly safely. SkyWatch was the first active Collision Avoidance System certified for General Aviation. It offers the most display options, the greatest number of targets displayed, the farthest display range and the longest warranty of any GA Collision Avoidance System. It features a single antenna that provides omni-directional coverage and outperforms dual antenna systems for GA aircraft. It also self-tests and calibrates to meet TCAS specifications, offers Verbal Intruder Positioning (VIP) and is the only traffic system to offer multiple heading inputs for unmatched targeting accuracy. SkyWatch has been installed in more than 10,000 single engine airplanes, helicopters, luxury business jets and is the choice of top aircraft manufacturers worldwide.

Stormscope: How Fresh Is Your Weather?

L-3 Avionics Systems' Stormscope delivers critical lightning data in the first few seconds of a thunderstorm and helps pilots make smarter and quicker decisions to avoid lightning and associated hazards like turbulence and wind shear.

Data-link weather systems only monitor cloud to ground strikes, which represent just 10 to 20 percent of the entire lightning picture. Stormscope detects all lightning activity and provides the most comprehensive, real-time thunderstorm depiction available. Many pilots who have data-link weather also choose to use Stormscope as a complementary system to enhance safety. With Stormscope, pilots are able to make informed, flight critical decisions about thunderstorm avoidance and fly with greater confidence.

Visitors at Oshkosh can view IRIS, SkyWatch, Stormscope and other L-3 Avionics Systems products at booth #3100. You can also view L-3 Avionics Systems products online at L-3avionics.com.
