Embry-Riddle, Delta State University Add DA42 Aircraft

First Of The Twins For Delta State

Delta State University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University have ordered new DA-42 aircraft for their training fleets, the aircraft manufacturer said Thursday.

DA42-L360

Delta State will take delivery of three twin-engine aircraft this summer, in advance of the 2011-2012 academic year. "The Diamond DA42-L360, was chosen for our multi-engine fleet, because of its safety, performance and advanced technology," commented Chip Cooper, Delta State University's Director of Flight Operations. "The all-carbon modern airframe and Garmin G1000 avionics suite, combined with the reliability of the counter-rotating Lycoming IO-360 engines, is the perfect package for our multi-engine training program."

"We welcome Delta State to the Diamond family.  With the incorporation of the DA42-L360 and it's advanced systems into DSU's flight program, students will be well prepared for their future careers as professional pilots", said David Moser, Diamond's Director of Fleet Sales.

The Diamond DA42-L360 ordered by Delta State are all carbon fiber, twin-engine aircraft, with counter-rotating Lycoming IO-360 (180hp) power plants, and the Garmin G1000 glass cockpit.

An additional four of the airplanes will be added to the training fleet at the Prescott, AZ campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University before the start of the new academic year in August.

DA42 NG

“We selected the Diamond DA42 NG after evaluating all the light twin engine aircraft on the market,” said William O'Hara, Interim Director of Flight Operations at Embry-Riddle Prescott. “The DA42 NG provides us with an exceptionally safe and fuel-efficient multi-engine training platform with the latest in engine, avionics and airframe technologies. And, the AE300 turbo-diesel is perfect for our high altitude training environment.”

The DA42 NG airplanes ordered by ERAU incorporate FADEC, twin turbo-diesel AE300 engines from Austro Engine, and the latest avionics from Garmin, including the G1000 integrated glass cockpit with GFC 700 automated flight control system and Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT).

“With the sale of DA42 NGs to Prescott, Diamond is pleased to expand our relationship with Embry-Riddle. The DA42  NG is an excellent choice for Embry-Riddle's mission of preparing their students to be the best professional pilots in the industry,” commented David Moser, Director of Fleet Sales for Diamond Aircraft.
