Flight Attendant Alerts Officials On Final To Indy
An American Airlines flight from
Chicago to Indianapolis was evacuated just after landing Friday,
when a flight attendant reported a suspicious package on board the
Flight 1103 landed safely at Indianapolis International Airport,
arriving at 1:35 pm CST. All 62 passengers and crew slid down the
emergency egress chutes to safety. They were rounded up and bused
to the international terminal, where they were questioned.
The Indianapolis Police Department bomb squad was called in with
dogs trained to sniff out explosives. An American Airlines
spokesman said the package was found to be benign.
"At this time of heightened security, all responsible parties
acted appropriately," said airport PR director Dennis Rosebrough.
"The safety of the passengers was our foremost concern."
