Women On The Circuit. The ARC Series Introduces Julia Wood & Kate Kyer

First Female Race Pilots To Compete In The Aerobatic Racing Challenge Series

On June 12, 2010 at Dallas Ft. Worth's Summer Balloon Classic & AirFest, the Aerobatic Racing Challenge Series (ARC Series) will showcase Aerobatic Race pilots Julia Wood & Kate Kyer in their exclusive ARC Series debut as they compete for the 2010 Blue Sky Challenge Cup Trophy.

Julia will be flying her Russian Sukhoi monoplane against Kate's Classic Pitts biplane in a high-performance fight to determine if Soviet aerobatic technology can beat out United States engineering by defeating the classic American-built Pitts Special.

Kate Kyer

The International Federation of Aerobatic Racing (IFAR), responsible for organizing, promoting, and sanctioning ARC Series brand racing, is proud to highlight such talented women in this growing Aerobatic Race series.  Julia and Kate are consummate aviation professionals that are not just skillful competitors but outstanding role models as well.

Julia Wood

ARC Series racing challenges all of their Race Pilots to strategically fly a sequence of maneuvers that will exploit the weaknesses of their opponent's aircraft while maximizing their own plane's advantages and flight characteristics.  Positioning their aircraft side-by-side as they battle for the lead, pilots must fly faster, corner harder, push the limits and pull more G-forces than their rivals.  The first aircraft to complete the entire sequence, including  classic maneuvers such as the Avalanche, Humpty-Bump, Hammerhead, and the Tailslide, wins the race.
