Kim Stevens Named Interim Director
Christopher J. Willenborg, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO), has announced that the Executive Board will establish a search committee for the Association’s next President and CEO.
“Over the past several weeks, our NASAO family continues to mourn the loss of our friend and leader, Henry Ogrodzinski,” said Willenborg. “Despite this difficult time for our organization, the NASAO staff has continued to work diligently in Washington D.C. in addressing our member's needs and concerns.”
The NASAO Executive Committee and Board of Directors held a conference call to discuss the next steps, both short term and long term, for the organization in regards to a search process for a new President and CEO. They voted in favor of naming Kim Stevens, Interim President and CEO during their search efforts to fill the position permanently. “Given Kim's prior experience as a state director and understanding of NASAO, we are confident that Kim can represent our organization in Washington D.C. during our search for a new President and CEO,” said Willenborg. “On behalf of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, we greatly appreciate Kim's willingness to step in during this transition period.”
Stevens joined NASAO in March of 2013 as Director, Member Relations and Communications and began his duties as Interim President and CEO on February 3rd. “I’m humbled that the Executive Board has confidence in my ability to step into the shoes of one of the most amazing gentlemen in the aviation industry,” said Stevens. “He greatly impacted my life and I am committed to making sure the hard work and sacrifices that he made and the relationships that he has established remain in place. We will continue to expand on the foundation that he so eloquently built during his 18 years at the helm.”
Before the selection process begins, NASAO Members will have the opportunity to offer their thoughts on what leadership qualities and values are most important to them in filling the position. “We want to make sure our new President and CEO represents all our members,” said Willenborg.
