State-Run Simportex Receives Legacy 600, Brasilia Turboprop
Embraer delivered the first Legacy jet to Simportex, located in
Luanda, Angola. The State-run company is responsible for purchasing
the country’s military materiel.
Besides the newly-delivered Legacy 600 jet, the deal with
Simportex covers a broad parts and services contract. The Angolan
company will also begin operating a twin-turboprop EMB 120 Brasilia
in the coming months, and both aircraft will be used to carry
Angola’s government authorities.

Aguiar, Embraer Executive Vice President, Defense and Government

The presence of Embraer’s Defense and Government products
on the African continent has grown in recent years. Angola has
flown the Tucano turboprop since 1997. In Nigeria, Embraer
delivered jets to the States of Rivers in 2005, and Bauchi in 2007,
for transporting that nation’s public officials.
In the Defense area, Embraer’s aircraft are flying in over
20 countries worldwide.
