Esterline CMC Rolls Out PilotView Electronic Flight Bag

Offers More Advanced Applications And State-Of-The-Art Processing Capabilities

Esterline CMC Electronics (CMC) has launched a powerful, second-generation processor for all its certified class 2 PilotView Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) products. The new Intel Dual Core i7 processor seamlessly enables a wide range of advanced software applications. The state-of-the-art processor delivers high-end graphics capabilities for all of CMC’s EFB products – for new products, as well as for the retrofit of fielded units with full form and fit interchangeability. CMC is also offering LED integrated backlighting improvements for its 8.4 inch PilotView EFB. Other improved features include enhanced sunlight readability, lower power consumption and enhanced battery life.

CMC will showcase its 8.4 and 10.4 inch PilotView EFBs, as well as its new Tandem software application that helps to integrate mobile devices such as the iPad with the company’s certified EFBs. Tandem is an intuitive productivity tool for pilots and crews that supports flight planning, briefing and EFB applications data management activities. The software will benefit operators wanting to ensure optimal use of their PC tablets or PDAs on the ground, and their class 2/3 installed EFBs onboard the aircraft.

The CMC PilotView EFB system offers a wide range of features and field proven applications that include charting, electronic documentation, en-route real-time weather moving maps, camera surveillance, and aircraft data monitoring and reporting. Additionally, CMC is offering an advanced terrain awareness application. The PilotView EFB is approved for real-time ACARS messaging over VHF-based and satellite services.

Jim Palmer, vice-president, aviation products, Esterline CMC Electronics, said, “CMC’s PilotView EFB system is certified for use in all flight phases and is integrated with a number of aircraft systems, generating improved application value for pilots, enhanced productivity and reduced workload.”

The PilotView EFB system offers one-touch situational awareness and a best in class, film-on-glass touch screen for superior readability. Certified for class 2 and class 3 usage, PilotView is the electronic flight bag preferred by OEMs. In addition, over 30 STCs are available for the PilotView EFB on aircraft ranging from the Gulfstream GlV/GV, the Bombardier Challenger and Global Express/XRS, to the Boeing 737. PilotView is offered as a standard option by ATR, by Dassault on Falcon 900, 2000 and 7X, by Embraer for the Legacy 600/650 and E-170/190 programs, by Bombardier for the CRJ700/900/1000, and by Boeing for the Next-Generation B-737s and BBJs.
