FAA To Hold Commercial Space Transportation Conference

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Industry And Academic Leaders To Participate

The FAA will hold its 16th annual Commercial Space Transportation Conference Wednesday and Thursday in Washington, D.C.  The two-day conference will get underway at 0800 at the National Housing Center. U.S. DOT Secretary Ray LaHood will deliver keynote remarks at 1430 Wednesday afternoon.

The two day event will feature representatives from academic, industry and government leaders in commercial space transportation. The conference will include keynotes and panel discussions about: Space transportation safety, space tourism, launch site development, future space technologies; and developments relating to travel to the International Space Station.
 
Other speakers at the conference include: Rep. Steven Palazzo, R-MS; Rep. Chaka Fattah, D-PA; Rep. Donna Edwards, D-MD, and others. In addition, officials from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University are expected to make an announcement on Feb. 6th at 1100 in the atrium of the National Housing Center.

According to the FAA, the annual two-day event brings together entrepreneurs, engineers, small businesses, academics, aerospace industry executives, government regulators, and legislators to share their insights about the exciting growth of the U.S. commercial space industry.
