The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) And EAA Announce ‘Heavy Bombers Weekend’

Event In Madison, Wisconsin July 26-28 Features The B-29 Superfortress, B-17 Flying Fortress And B-24 Liberator

In an unprecedented and rare gathering of World War II era aircraft the CAF and EAA are joining forces for a ‘Heavy Bombers Weekend’ in Madison, Wisconsin the weekend before EAA AirVenture. The event starts Friday, July 26, 2013 and will feature the world’s only airworthy B-29 Superfortress FIFI; the B-17 Aluminum Overcast; and the B-24 Diamond Lil. Other attending aircraft include a P-51 Mustang, C-45 Expeditor, SNJ-5, PT-26, PT-17 Stearman and T-6 Texan.

Fleet Grows, Training Increases For F-35

Twenty-Five Of The Joint Strike Fighters Now At The Integrated Training Center In FL

The largest fleet of F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighters grew to 25 aircraft as the F-35 Integrated Training Center at Florida's Eglin Air Force Base welcomed two new Air Force F-35A variants of the multi-role fighter to the Emerald Coast, June 5. The expansion gives the 58th Fighter Squadron the ability to fly an expanded schedule and more readily put student pilots through the F-35 training course.

RQ-21A Small UAS Completes First East Coast Flight

The RQ-21A Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (STUAS) completed its first East Coast flight from Webster Field Annex on June 12, marking the start of the next phase of test for the program. A team from the Navy and Marine Corps STUAS program office (PMA-263) and industry partner Insitu, Inc., are conducting flight operations at Webster, NAS Pax River’s outlying field, this June.
