Philanthropist's Collection Liquidated

Rumors Place Owner as Walmart Heir and GameBird GB1 Owner Steuart Walton 

The infamous aviation collection acquired by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has reportedly been liquidated, sold in its entirety by his estate to the grandson of Walmart founder Sam Walton. Allen's death almost 4 years ago had placed the extensive collection's status in doubt, held at the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum in Everett, Washington. One aviation outlet recently reported that the philanthropist's large assortment of vintage equipment has been sold off by the Allen estate, and currently being carefully crated for shipment to their new home.

FAA: MedXPress Allows Pilots to Track Medical Applications in Real-Time

Track The Status Of Your Medical Certificates Online

The FAA has added a new feature to MedXPress that allows pilots to track the status of their medical certificates online throughout the application and review process. Prior to adding this new feature, pilots had to call the Office of Aerospace Medicine to check their application status. Heretofore; the FAA MedXPress system allowed anyone requesting an FAA Medical Clearance or Medical Certificate to electronically complete an application.

Eglin AFB Sees Uncrewed Hexa Test Flights

Agility Prime Contract Continues Evaluations on Crop of Contracted Providers

Eglin Air Force Base has been home to some unusual flight activity as Lift Aircraft's HEXA demonstrator has been put through the paces. The Texan company received a phase 3 contract under the USAF Agility Prime Program, allowing it to continue experimentation and flight development. Elgin's 413th Flight Test Squadron oversaw the flight testing, sending an unmanned Hexa aircraft on a 10-minute jaunt at a height of about 50 feet.

USAF CAP Receives New Commander

Former Vice Commander Tyler P Frander Assumes Command of Military Liaison for CAP

The Civil Air Patrol-US Air Force has received a new commander after the installation of Colonel Tyler P. Frander in an April 13th Ceremony at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Frander assumes command from Colonel Mark Wootan, who led the CAP-USAF since April of 2019 as the force's 31st commander. The CAP-USAF is the military structure to support the civilian Civil Air Patrol, acting as the official backbone and government interface for the civilian organization. It "provides day-to-day support, advice, and liaison to CAP members and oversight for programs".

NTSB Prelim: Robinson Helicopter R44

Video... Showed The Helicopter And It’S Separated Tail Boom/Tail Rotor Section Fall From The Sky

On March 25, 2022, about 1127 central daylight time, a Robinson R44 helicopter was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Rowlett, Texas. The certified flight instructor (CFI) and student pilot sustained fatal injuries. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 training flight. According to the operator, the flight was the second of the day for the CFI and student pilot. The first flight (lesson 10 of the training syllabus) was completed successfully.
