FAA Takes Another Step Towards Boeing 737 MAX Return

Comment Period On The Draft FSB Report Will Last Through November 2, 2020

The FAA posted the draft Flight Standardization Board (FSB) report on the proposed pilot training for the Boeing 737 MAX Tuesday afternoon, as FSBR B737. The report incorporates the recommendations from the Joint Operations Evaluation Board (JOEB) which recently met for nine days. The JOEB was comprised of civil aviation authorities from the United States, Canada, Brazil, and the European Union. The comment period on the draft FSB report will last through November 2, 2020. The FAA will publish a final FSB report after reviewing and addressing public comments on the draft FSB Report.

NTSB Prelim: Cessna 172

At 1432, Over Lower Grey Cloud Island, The Target Disappeared

On September 13, 2020, at 1432 central daylight time, a Cessna 172I airplane, N8488L was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Cottage Grove, Minnesota. The pilot and two passengers were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. Radar data showed the airplane depart SGS at 1428, climbing to about 1,800 ft mean sea level, and proceed southbound before it turned southeast-bound over Upper Grey Cloud Island. At 1432, over Lower Grey Cloud Island, the target disappeared. Another airplane, inbound for landing at SGS, captured N8488L in a video and still photographs as it descended.

AD 2020-18-16 Requires Modifying The Fuel Quantity Indicating System (FQIS)

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain The Boeing Company Model 767-200, -300, -300F, and -400ER series airplanes. This AD was prompted by the FAA's analysis of the Model 767 fuel system reviews conducted by the manufacturer. This AD requires modifying the fuel quantity indicating system (FQIS) to prevent development of an ignition source inside the center fuel tank due to electrical fault conditions. This AD also provides optional actions for cargo airplanes. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective November 10, 2020.
