Airborne 02.19.14: Latitude First Flight, Piper Picks Up, NASAO Search

Cessna is celebrating the successful first prototype flight of its highly-anticipated Citation Latitude midsize business jet. The first flight of the Citation Latitude tested flaps, landing gear, pressurization systems, anti-ice capabilities and, of course, stability and control. The test flight reached an altitude of 28,000 feet and attained speeds of 230 mph. Cessna flight engineers said all systems are performing as expected. FAA: Laser Incidents Increase In 2013

Nearly 4,000 Reports Of Lasers Being Directed At Aircraft

The FAA has released a report showing an increase in lasers being aimed at aircraft over the past year with 3,960 such incidents in 2013. That's up from 3,482 in 2012, and 384 in 2006, the first year such statistics were kept.
