DARPA Hypersonic Vehicle Splash Down Confirmed

Flight 1 Engineering Changes Believed Effective

During a test flight Thursday, 11 August, DARPA's Falcon HTV-2 scramjet powered aircraft experienced a flight anomaly post perigee and into the vehicle's climb. Analyst Says About 1000

While Boeing still hopes to finally deliver the first Dreamliner to a customer next month, analysts are saying the company won't make a profit on the airplane until 1,000 of them are flying for customers. That assessment comes from Bernstein Research in New York, which cites the company's three years of issues and delays in a report released August 16.

F-35C Completes Jet Blast Deflector Testing

Exercise Resulted In "No Surprises"

The F-35C is another step closer to initial ship trials on an aircraft carrier at sea. The F-35 integrated test force completed jet blast deflector (JBD) testing at the NAVAIR facility in Lakehurst, N.J. Aug. 13 with a round of two-aircraft testing. F-35C test aircraft CF-1 along with an F/A-18E tested a combined JBD cooling panel configuration to assess the integration of F-35s in aircraft carrier launch operations.

New consumer protections for airline passengers established by the U.S. DOT went into effect Tuesday, which Secretary Ray LaHood says will make flying more convenient and hassle-free for air travelers nationwide. The new consumer protections, finalized earlier this year, include requirements that airlines refund baggage fees if bags are lost, increase compensation provided to passengers bumped from oversold flights, and provide passengers greater protections from lengthy tarmac delays.

NTSB Makes Safety Recommendations For Robinson R44 Helos

Aircraft Involved In An Alaska Accident Involving Main Rotor Transmission Design

The NTSB has made a series of recommendations to the FAA concerning Robinson R44 helicopters. The recommendations come following an NTSB investigation involving one of the aircraft in Alaska in May of 2009. In that accident, an R44, N7196H, sustained substantial damage to the main rotor and tailboom during a hard landing, about 57 miles northwest of Iliamna, Alaska. The commercial pilot and the two passengers were not injured. The helicopter was being operated by the State of Alaska, Alaska State Troopers, Anchorage, Alaska, in VFR conditions.

Redbird Skyport Firms Up Seminole Deal
