Embraer Opens AZ Executive Jets Service Center

Expands Options For Bizjet Operators

Embraer celebrated the opening of its 47,700 square-foot hangar Monday at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, AZ. The new facility is dedicated to full-service care for the planemaker's Phenom 100, Phenom 300, Legacy 450, Legacy 500 and Legacy 600 executive jets.

About 25 pararescuemen, combat controllers and support troops from the Kentucky Air Guard's 123rd Special Tactics Squadron began deploying to coastal Texas over the weekend to conduct rescue operations for victims of Hurricane Ike.

AOPA: Fatal Accidents In North Las Vegas Spark Public Outreach

As reported first on Aero-News, two fatal accidents occurred near North Las Vegas Airport, sparking concern among the public about aviation safety, a concern that was fueled by some politization of the tragedies by local aviation officials who seemingly should have known better.

Northrop Grumman Corporation has won a $5.1 billion, 7-year (cost plus incentive fee) contract award for detail design and construction of the Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. This new class of carrier is the replacement for the Nimitz-class design that originated in the 1960s.

A satellite's rotational period is equal to its orbital period; this causes the same side of a satellite to always face the planet. Synchronous rotation occurs when a planet's gravity produces a tidal bulge in its satellite. The gravitational attraction and bulge acts like a torque, which slows down the satellite until it reaches a synchronous rotation.
