More Details Emerge In Canadian PA46 Accident

Company Has Had Two Fatal Accidents In Only Five Months

ANN has learned that the PA46 that went down, killing five on Friday, may have been experiencing some mode of gyro problems. A Transport Canada CADORS incident report on Friday's downing of a Piper PA-46 in Alberta, Canada, sheds new light on the unfortunate accident.

Boeing is in the process of acquiring Vought Aircraft Industries' interest in Global Aeronautica, LLC, a South Carolina fuselage sub-assembly facility for Boeing's newest airplane, the 787 Dreamliner.

According to the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), IFPTE Local 2001, the Boeing Company’s decision to buy a large stake in a major supplier’s US plant for the 787 is a necessary first step to bringing work back to the experienced employees who can get the program back on schedule.

Woman Pilots Add to U-2's History

In its 50 years of flight, only six women have flown the U-2 'Dragon Lady.' Three of those six are currently in the Air Force, and two of those three are currently fighting in operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom with the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing's 99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron, the only U-2 squadron in U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility.

Raytheon's AIM-120D Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile successfully destroyed its target in a recent test engagement of the newest variant of the combat-proven missile. The AIM-120D AMRAAM was fired by a U.S. Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter aircraft from the Navy's VX-31 squadron against a QF-4 target drone. The missile guided to a direct hit, destroying the drone and meeting all primary test objectives.

AirAsia X, the new long-haul low cost-carrier within the AirAsia Group, has signed a firm contract for an additional 10 A330-300s, which brings the airline's total order to 25 A330 aircraft. In June 2007, AirAsia X placed a first order to 15 A330s. The agreement was signed by Azran Osman-Rani, AirAsia X Chief Executive Officer and John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers.

NASA has awarded a cooperative agreement education grant to Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. The grant supports implementation of the Interdisciplinary National Science Program Incorporating Research Experience, also known as INSPIRE, program at NASA.

On Friday, March 28th, Geisinger Life Flight rolled out its first, state-of-the-art EC145 from American Eurocopter. The helicopter is the first of five in the Geisinger Life Flight fleet and was introduced at the Life Flight base in State College, Pennsylvania.
