Launch Customer Now Has 13 On Books

Boeing announced Monday that 747-8 launch customer Cargolux placed a follow-on order for three additional Boeing 747-8 Freighters, valued at $845 million at list prices, and added two options. This brings the Luxembourg-based cargo operator's total 747-8 Freighter order to 13 airplanes, two options and 10 purchase rights.

Lockheed Martin Engineers Observe VSTOL OPs On USS Nassau

More than 10 Lockheed Martin Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) 35 design engineers came aboard USS Nassau (LHA 4) on March 9 to observe AV-8B Harrier vertical short take off and landings (VSTOL). Ultralight Guided Whooping Cranes Returning to Wisconsin For Summer

 The winter snows have not yet melted, but wild whooping cranes are already returning to their summer nesting grounds in central Wisconsin. The Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP) tells ANN that they are coordinating an effort to return migrating whooping cranes to eastern North America, reports that two reintroduced whooping cranes have arrived at Necedah National Wildlife Refuge.

Reboost Puts ISS In Higher Orbit, Crew Prepares for Expedition 15

A docked Progress 23 cargo craft fired its engines Thursday night lifting the International Space Station to a higher orbit. The 12 minute, 32 second burn readies the station for the upcoming docking of Expedition 15 in April. The reboost also puts the station in the correct trajectory for the landing of Expedition 14 several days after Expedition 15 arrives.
