EAA AirVenture 2023 will be graced by a beautiful Hummingbird 300L helicopter skillfully and exactingly built by Mr. Vic Syracuse of Locust Grove, Georgia’s Base Leg Aviation. The splendid machine will be on static display from 24 through 30 July at Booths 277-285. Mr. Syracuse and Vertical Aviation Technologies—makers of the Hummingbird kit—cordially invite AirVenture attendees, one and all, to drop by and inspect the helicopter’s IO-540 engine installation, Advanced Flight System AF-6600 glass panel, and the remainder of its thoughtful, practical, and forward-thinking appointments.

Virgin Galactic Holdings, Inc. announced that the flight-window for its Galactic 02 mission will open on 10 August. In February 2020, United Airlines acquired a flight-training subsidiary and promptly dubbed it United Aviate Academy. The Goodyear, Arizona-based flight-school was to train five-thousand new pilots by 2030—half of whom were to be women or people of color, and the entirety of which were to be guaranteed flying jobs at United Airlines. Comes now 2023 and the levying of a worrying set of allegations against United Aviate Academy by a purported student thereof.

Pilot and Single Passenger Killed in Alaska Mishap

The NTSB has released its preliminary report on a 16 June 2023 accident in which a Cessna 180, registration N91361, was substantially damaged and its pilot and single passenger killed. The aircraft was operated as a non-scheduled charter flight under Part 135 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. The accident-aircraft was operated by Golden Eagle Outfitters, Inc. and dispatched to pick up four hunters from a remote airstrip and fly such to Unalakleet Airport (UNK) in west-central Alaska.

On June 27, 2023, at 1012 central daylight time, a Velocity XLRG airplane, N340XL, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
