Lufthansa Technik Tapped For Learjet 85 Cabin Management System

Bombardier Learjet Updates NBAA Audience On Aircraft Progress

Bombardier Aerospace announced Monday that Lufthansa Technik has been selected to develop the new all-composite Learjet 85 aircraft's cabin-management system.

The digital, Ethernet-based CMS and in-flight entertainment system will integrate all passenger entertainment and cabin environment management functions in a single system.

"We are committed to offer our Learjet 81 aircraft customers an unmatched cabin experience backed by leading-edge quality components," said David Coleal, vice president and general manager, Learjet.

The Learjet 81 aircraft's customized version CMS will feature a high-capacity Ethernet network with a digital amplifier to feed a high-fidelity speaker system, and an interface to support the aircraft cabin environment, including lighting and temperature control. The system's open architecture also allows for easy integration of third-party equipment and new applications, such as High Definition video.

The Learjet 85, launched on October 30th, 2007, will be the first Bombardier Aerospace jet to feature an all-composite structure, and will be the first all-composite business jet designed for type certification under FAR Part 25. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307B engines, the Learjet 85 targets a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.82 and a range of up to 3000 nm. The flight deck combines advanced technology with Rockwell Collins Pro-Line Fusion avionics.
