Reports of 70 Fatalities
A Turkish Airlines Avro RJ100, with 71 passengers
and five crew, is reported down in southeast Turkey, in the middle
of Wednesday night. Six survivors were reported as taken to local
hospital, in this military-base town, near Turkey's borders with
Syria and Iraq.
The four-engine jet was reported on approach to the airport at
Diyarbakir, in heavy fog. Flight 634 originated in Istanbul, with
an intermediate stop in Ankara.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.
