The DFC Society Hosts Reunion “Riders on the Storm – Desert Storm”
The Distinguished Flying Cross Society (DFC) will host its biennial reunion and convention in Washington D.C. from September 23-26, 2021.
The theme of the convention will be “Riders on the Storm – Desert Storm.” Desert Storm DFC recipients will be honored at the event, and appropriate honors will be rendered for their achievements at the gala banquet.
Reflecting the Desert Storm theme, the speakers include DFC Society member Gen. Richard Cody, USA (Ret), former Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, who led the first night Apache helicopter strike that took out Iraqi early warning radars, and Lt. Gen. David Deptula, USAF (Ret), the principal attack planner for the Desert Storm coalition air campaign. Two additional speakers will be Vice Admiral David Buss, USN (Ret) and Lt. Col. Ted Herman, USMC (Ret), Both are DFC Society members who were awarded DFCs for Desert Storm missions. The events theme also coincides with the construction of the National Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial.
This new national monument was approved by Congress and President Trump to be built by 2021 on the National Mall. DFC is keeping track of its progress, and if it is ready, part of the event’s activities will include visiting the memorial and other future events.
