Governor Phil Bredesen To Make the Announcement At The State
Capitol
Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen
(pictured) will appear with his state's aerospace experts and
members of the General Aviation community from around the country
Wednesday to highlight a statewide proclamation in support of the
aviation industry. The event takes place as part of a nationwide
effort to demonstrate the economic impact the general aviation
industry has on state and local economies.
The "General Aviation Appreciation Month" Proclamation Announcement
will include TN Governor Phil Bredesen, Tennessee Department of
Transportation Commissioner Gerald Nicely, Tennessee Aeronautics
Commissioners Chairman Ron Cooper, Fred Culbreath, Fred Dettwiller,
Belinda Anderson, Larry Mullins, Aeronautics Director Bob Woods,
AOPA representative Bob Minter, AAAA's Matthew Hager, and Dick
Doubrava on behalf of the National Business Aviation Association.
It's scheduled for 0930 on the steps of the State Capitol in
Nashville.
According to statistics from the
Alliance for Aviation Across America (AAAA), Tennessee relies a
great deal on general aviation (GA). From an economic
perspective, GA alone contributes $2.57 billion to the state's
economy, or $431 per capita, annually. Tennessee has 82 commercial
and general aviation airports, 11,829 pilots and 6,512 general
aviation aircraft. The state is also home to 46 flight companies,
56 repair stations and four flights schools, maintaining a good
percentage of the 51,800 aviation-related jobs in the
state.
