US Army Awards Contract To Kaiser Aircraft

Will Provide Door Modifications For As Many As 560 Helicopters

The Aviation Applied Technology Directorate of the U.S. Army has awarded a five-year contract to Kaiser Aircraft Industries for work on the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. The contract contains provisions to perform parts manufacturing, kitting and installation of a transition door modification for up to 800 kits and 560 helicopters.

Ron Aramini, President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “We look forward to working with the Army on our first major award with them as a prime contractor. They recognize the skill level and dedication of our employees as well as the unique capabilities of our facility.”

Jeff Smith, Director of Army Programs, said, “We are very pleased with the Army’s dedication to teaming with us in development of a quality product. This is a major milestone met in our quest to re-establish the Birmingham facility as a center of quality and excellence in maintenance, modification, repair, painting and overhaul of all types of aircraft.”

Kaiser Aircraft, with executive offices and facilities in Birmingham, Alabama, performs parts manufacturing, maintenance and modification of aircraft that currently include C-130, C-12, RC-12 and the UC-35. The company is a registered small business, Part 145 Repair Station, operating in a hangar facility in excess of 1.2 million square feet with complete fabrication, paint and de-paint capability.
