Reservations and Fees Apply to ALL GA Aircraft

The Arizona Pilots Association set forth in a communique that the entirety of Las Vegas, Nevada’s general aviation airports—Harry Reid International (LAS), Henderson Executive (HSH), and North Las Vegas (VGT)—will require all general aviation aircraft arriving during the time period spanning 14 through 20 November 2023 to secure reservations/prior permission and pay a $3,000 arrival fee. The exorbitant fees are reportedly attributable to the Formula 1 events occurring on the antecedent dates.

Sunshine State Hosts Inaugural eVTOL Flight

Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Volocopter, the German designer and manufacturer of electric multirotor helicopters, have undertaken a comprehensive flight test campaign of a crewed Volocopter 2X. Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada-based Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing Corp. (AEM) has debuted a new panel-mount Bluetooth Audio Accessory dubbed the BAA01-001. Subject device is designed to add Bluetooth connectivity to existing avionics, audio, PA, or loudspeaker systems. AEM’s BAA01-001 supports discrete phone calls and music audio by way of built-in Bluetooth audio profiles. An integrated front-panel LED annunciator displays system power, pairing, and link status. The unit allows operators to easily adjust control and volume of Bluetooth music and call audio playback using the BAA01-001’s built-in front-panel rotary encoder.

Agency Issues SAFO 21007

The FAA has updated its guidance pertaining to 5G C-Band interference and the potential adverse effects thereof on aircraft Radio Altimeters (RA). The agency recommends operators equip affected aircraft with 5G-tolerant radio altimeters as soon as possible. Subject guidance, published in Safety Alert for Operators (SAFO) 21007, titled Risk of Potential Adverse Effects on Radio Altimeters when Operating in the Presence of 5G C-Band Interference, is the latest official update set forth by the FAA since the 01 July 2023 deadline the agency set for airlines to equip their aircraft with filters capable of shielding aircraft components and systems from the adverse effects of 5G C-Band interference.

On October 23, 2023, at 1611 central daylight time, a Piper PA-46-350P airplane, N92884, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Pierre, South Dakota. The pilot sustained serious injuries, and the passenger sustained fatal injuries.
