FAA Proposes $382K Civil Penalty Against Universal Flight Training

Sarasota, FL, Operation Had Previously Been Subject Of Revocation Action

The FAA has proposed a $382,000 civil penalty against Universal Flight Training of Sarasota, FL, for allegedly conducting illegal passenger-carrying flights. The FAA alleges that between October 2015 and February 2019, Universal Flight Training and its affiliate, Universal Flight Services, conducted at least 26 paid passenger-carrying flights in multiple airplanes. The agency alleges the companies did not have the required FAA operating or air carrier certificate to conduct those flights. The FAA further alleges the companies used unqualified pilots who did not complete FAA-required training, testing, and competency checks.

New M600 Simulator Received FAA Certification

Legacy Flight Training reveals that the company has received FAA certification for use of the new Frasca flight simulator for the Piper M600/SLS in their curriculum at their training facility on the Piper Aircraft campus in Vero Beach, Florida. The M600/SLS simulator provides a realistic flight experience as it uses an actual M600 fuselage, pilot seating, sub panels, switching and flight controls and multi-channel projection system with wrap-around visuals. Shell informs the community of its ambition to produce around 2 million tons of sustainable aviation fuel a year by 2025. By 2030, the company also plans to have at least 10% of its total, global fuel sales as SAF. “Currently, sustainable aviation fuel accounts for less than 0.1% of the world’s use of aviation fuel. We want to help our customers use more SAF,” said Anna Mascolo, President of Shell Aviation. “With the right policies, investments and collaboration across the sector we can accelerate aviation’s progress towards net zero by 2050.”

The Factory Will Provide Hundreds Of Jobs In Illinois

Boeing reveals they will build the Navy’s newest carrier-based aircraft at a new facility in Illinois. This new aircraft will bring the benefits of digital aircraft design and production to the Navy, while the production is expected to provide up to 300 advanced manufacturing jobs to the greater St. Louis region. The facility is expected to be completed in 2024, and will provide employment to 150 mechanics, engineers and support staff that will together build the MQ-25TM Stingray, set to be the Navy’s first operational, carrier-based unmanned aircraft.

AD 2021-18-01 Requires Repetitively Inspecting The Rudder Final Drive Rod Assembly

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for B-N Group Ltd. Models BN-2, BN-2A, BN-2A-2, BN-2A-3, BN-2A-6, BN-2A-8, BN-2A-9, BN-2A-20, BN-2A-21, BN-2A26, BN-2A-27, BN-2B-20, BN-2B-21, BN-2B-26, BN-2B-27, BN-2T, and BN-2T-4R airplanes. This AD was prompted by mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI identifies the unsafe condition as failure of the rudder final drive rod because of cracks in the region of the taper pins.
