Will Fly As Part Of Minority Youth Aviation Scholarship Program

Piper Aircraft has received orders for two Pilot 100i single-engine trainers from the Tuskegee Airmen Inc., inspired aviation scholarship program, the RedTail Flight Academy (RFA). The RedTail Flight Academy, which began its legacy with the Major General Irene-Trowel Harris Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen, will officially begin training students in September 2021. The Academy, with a mission of honoring the legacy of the original Tuskegee Airmen, will be based at New York Stewart International Airport, will train to a Part 141 curriculum, and will start with six pilot scholarships, increasing to thirty students per year by 2026.

The heat continues to get turned up over the deplorable, illegal hijacking of a Ryanair 737 by the Belarussian government. Now, Canada not only has spoken out, but has issued a NOTAM advising Canadian air operators and the owners of aircraft registered in Canada to avoid operating at any altitude within Belarusian airspace.

Contractor Owned/Flown Mirage F1 Goes Down On Takeoff

A commercially owned and operated Mirage F1 aircraft has been involved in a fatal accident shortly after departure from Nellis Air Force Base, near Las Vegas, Nevada. Provided to the US Air Force by Draken International, the aircraft's pilot, identified as 43-year-old Nicholas Hunter Hamilton was confirmed to have perished in the accident by the local coroner. The accident took place at approximately 1430, Monday, outside the southern edge of the base -- with the aircraft reportedly carrying the callsign of SNIPER01.

Embraer Offering ERJ 145 Semi-Private Jet Aftermarket Modification

Conversion Will Be Possible Through An STC Currently Under Development

Embraer is now offering a semi-private configuration for ERJ 145 jets as an aftermarket solution, which includes premium seats for passenger comfort. The conversion will be possible through an STC currently under development by Embraer, and all ERJ 145 are eligible to be converted to a semi-private aircraft. "Embraer constantly assesses customer needs to offer innovative solutions and support new market requirements, which is why we developed the new semi-private conversion," said Marsha Woelber, Head of Worldwide Executive Jets Customer Support & Aftermarket Sales, Embraer Service & Support.

The A400M Global Fleet Also Achieved The 100,000 Flight-Hours Landmark

Airbus has reached 100 A400M deliveries with MSN111, the tenth A400M for the Spanish Air Force. The aircraft performed its ferry flight on 24 May from Seville to Zaragoza, where the Spanish A400M fleet is based. In the same week, the A400M global fleet also achieved the 100,000 flight-hours landmark performing missions worldwide for all eight customer nations. All A400M operators have been able to operate the aircraft intensively for Covid-19 emergency response missions, as well as conduct joint, collaborative operations.

SMBC Aviation Capital Orders 14 Boeing 737 MAX Jets

SMBC Aviation Capital is ordering 14 additional 737-8 jets to grow its 737 MAX portfolio. The new order comes as airlines prepare for a robust return to air travel and modernize their narrowbody fleets to reduce fuel use and carbon emissions. "We are pleased to have concluded an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of 14 low-cost carrier configured 737 MAX aircraft which is an aircraft we are seeing increased customer demand for following its successful return to service," said Peter Barrett, CEO of SMBC Aviation Capital.

Announces Results of Mexico’s Most Recent Safety Assessment

The FAA has announced that the Government of Mexico does not meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) safety standards. Based on a reassessment of Mexico’s civil aviation authority, the FAA has downgraded Mexico’s rating to Category 2 from Category 1. While the new rating allows Mexican air carriers to continue existing service to the United States, it prohibits any new service and routes. U.S. airlines will no longer be able to market and sell tickets with their names and designator codes on Mexican-operated flights. The FAA will increase its scrutiny of Mexican airline flights to the United States.

(Pilot) Initiated A Forced Landing To A Clearing On Sloped Terrain

On May 16, 2021, about 1545 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna 210, N7350E, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Lake Arrowhead, California. The pilot and passenger were seriously injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that while climbing through an altitude of about 8,500 ft mean sea level (msl), en route to Big Bear Airport (L35), Big Bear City, California, he noted a partial loss of engine power. He contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and was provided with alternate airports and current weather information.
