Operating In RVSM Airspace Will Offer M500/M600 Pilots Added Capabilities

Piper is now offering RVSM certification as a factory option on the Piper M500 and M600 turboprop aircraft. The RVSM STC was approved by AeroMech’s FAA STC ODA and previously only available post-production from selected avionics facilities. Piper M500/M600 customers will now be able to operate in RVSM airspace on the delivery flight home utilizing the full aircraft performance envelope. Operating in RVSM airspace will allow M500/M600 pilots to gain fuel savings, lower their carbon footprint, increase range, and fly above applicable weather.

Leading Edge Took Delivery Of A New DA42 FNPT II Simulator

The installation of a new Diamond simulator is the latest in a series of investments by Leading Edge Aviation. The device forms an important part of the Multi-Engine phase of training and with a growing number of students, the second DA42 simulator couldn’t come soon enough for the company. It sits alongside their existing DA42 and A320 simulators situated at their Sim Centre next door to their Oxford Airport base.

New Facility Will Provide Additional A321 Industrial Capability

Airbus has resumed work on the modernisation of its A320 Family industrial capabilities in Toulouse. This will provide Airbus with increased flexibility throughout its global industrial production system to respond to market recovery and future demand. The modernised, digitally-enabled A320/A321 final assembly line (FAL) will replace one of the original Toulouse A320 FALs. It will be installed in the former A380 Lagardère facility and should be operational by end 2022.

Will Support The "Jay I. Kislak World War II in the Air" Gallery

The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum has received $3 million from the Daniels Fund to support the new "Jay I. Kislak World War II in the Air" gallery. The exhibition will examine how the revolution in warfare that took place during the war redefined the promise and peril of military aviation. It is part of the museum's ongoing transformation of all its galleries at the flagship building in Washington, D.C., and is scheduled to open in 2025.

Company Posts 2021 Course Details

Orbite, which hopes to be a space training company, has announced its first space training program: Astronaut Orientation, a 3-day, 4-night experience. The company will offer four pretty expensive courses in the fall of 2021, with three located in the U.S. and one in France. Each Astronaut Orientation will be limited to 10 guests to ensure personalized service. Astronaut Orientation is the first training offering of several planned from Orbite. This program focuses on putting guests through a series of activities that may enlighten them about the different suborbital and orbital spaceflight offerings.

ASTM Committee F47 on Commercial Spaceflight Was Formed In 2016

ASTM International's commercial spaceflight committee (F47) is developing a proposed standard that will serve as a guide for medical qualifications for suborbital vehicle passengers. The proposed standard (WK76057) will provide a consensus set of passenger acceptance guidelines that can serve as advice to commercial operators as they develop their own medical programs. Both commercial spaceflight operators and potential passengers will use the guide to understand basic medical questions that will need to be considered prior to flying.

While Turning From Base Toward Final, The Engine Sustained A Total Loss Of Engine Power

On April 17, 2021, about 1948 central daylight time, a Piper PA-28R-200 airplane, N2973R, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near McKinney, Texas. The flight instructor and student pilot sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. The airplane departed from the Rockwall Municipal Airport (F46), Rockwall, Texas, at 1934 and was flying in the traffic pattern at the McKinney National Airport (TKI), McKinney, Texas.
