Third Time's The Charm? Aviation Org's Seek Ongoing FAA Relief

Org's Propose Extending Through March Provisions Of SFAR 118-2

EAA is among seven aviation organizations who have requested the SFAR introduced by the FAA to help pilots during the coronavirus pandemic be extended a third time as COVID-19 continues to impose widespread challenges to aviation. The groups proposed extending through March provisions of SFAR 118-2 that are currently set to expire at the end of January. The proposed extension, sent by the organizations in a letter last week, would give pilots with medical certificates or flight reviews expiring in February and March a two-month grace period. The extension also addresses instrument currency and knowledge exams set to expire from now until the end of March.

Blue Origin Successfully Demonstrates Crew Capsule Upgrades

It was a beautiful thing to see... Blue Origin successfully completed its 14th mission to space and back, Thursday, for the New Shepard program. On a gorgeous Thursday morning, the Blue Origin team conducted another test of the New Shepard/Blue Origin system as they edge closer to the advent of manned flight operations... which may come this year. Mission NS-14 featured a crew capsule outfitted with astronaut experience upgrades for upcoming flights with passengers onboard.

HAI Addresses Pandemic Issues In Regards To New Orleans HAI HELI-EXPO 2021

HAI seems serious about having a LIVE Heli-Expo this year. HAI has just updated their communications about Heli-Expo with a message in which they mak it clear that they are committed to supporting the vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) industry by holding an in-person HAI HELI-EXPO 2021 in New Orleans March 22–25, with exhibits open March 23–25. “I want to be as transparent as possible in addressing the concerns of our industry,” says James Viola, president and CEO of HAI.

Loss Of Flight Track Data Coincided With The Accident Site Location

On January 4, 2021, about 0933 central standard time, a Hawker Beechcraft Corporation G58 airplane, N325GC, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Cash, Arkansas. The private pilot and passenger sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to flight track data, the airplane departed from the Jonesboro Municipal Airport (JBR), Jonesboro, Arkansas at 0927. After departure, the airplane flew southwest, climbed to about 2,300 ft msl, and then started to descend. The flight continued to track southwest until about 0932, when it turned right, and flew west-north-west briefly, until flight

AD 2021-02-05 Requires Re-Torqueing The Attachment Nuts Of Each Affected Part

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus SAS Model A330-200, -200 Freighter, -300, -800, and -900 series airplanes; Model A340-200 and -300 series airplanes; and Model A340-541 and A340-642 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report that an erroneous torque value for the attachment nuts to install a pitot probe was included in the affected Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) task. This AD requires re-torqueing the attachment nuts of each affected part. In addition, this AD prohibits the use of the affected AMM task, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD
