New Agreement Paves The Way For US Companies To Operate From UK Spaceports

UK Ambassador Dame Karen Pierce and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Non-proliferation, Christopher Ford, signed the US-UK Technology Safeguards Agreement, which will enable U.S. companies to participate in space launches from the United Kingdom. The Agreement means US space and technology companies throughout the supply chain can contribute to and benefit from the commercial opportunities offered by the UK space sector which already employs 42,000 people and generates an income of £14.8 billion each year.

The Oregon International Air Show has confirmed that the 2020 Air Show scheduled for Sept. 25 - 27 at McMinnville Airport has been cancelled due to ongoing COVID-19 safety concerns and restrictions. Safety considerations and government restrictions related to COVID-19 have caused the cancellation of many air shows across North America in 2020. The U.S. military continues to have restrictions on non-essential travel and state restrictions on large group gatherings have forced all air shows scheduled prior to June 30 to postpone or cancel. Many shows later in the year have also cancelled or postponed their events until next year.

NORAD Intercepts Russian Maritime Patrol Aircraft Entering Alaskan ADIZ

NORAD Employs A Layered Defense Network Of Radars, Satellites, And Fighter Aircraft

North American Aerospace Defense Command F-22s, supported by a KC-135 Stratotanker, intercepted two Russian IL-38 maritime patrol aircraft entering the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone in the late hours of June 24. The Russian aircraft came within 50 miles of Unimak Island along the Aleutian island chain, spending approximately four hours in the ADIZ before exiting. The IL-38s remained in international airspace and at no time did the aircraft enter United States or Canadian sovereign airspace.

The wing and cockpit sections of NASA’s X-59 Quiet SuperSonic Technology (QueSST) are coming together at Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works factory in Palmdale, California. The Pilot Performed An Autorotation To A Field

On June 14, 2020, about 2030 eastern daylight time, a Bell 47G-3B1, N473TT, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Atoka, Tennessee. The pilot and two passengers were not injured. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the pilot, they departed Burnett Heliport (59TN) Atoka, Tennessee, for a local flight. He stated that about 1.5 miles north of the heliport, while descending through 900 ft, the engine experienced a total loss of power. AD 2020-13-07 Prompted By The Unexpected Reduction In Fuel Pump Performance

Airworthiness Directives; Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG (Type Certificate Previously The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd. & Co KG (RRD) Trent 1000-D2, Trent 1000-J2, and Trent 1000-K2 model turbofan engines with fuel pump, part number G5030FPU01, installed. This AD requires removal and replacement of the fuel pump with a part eligible for installation. This AD was prompted by the manufacturer's investigation into an unexpected reduction in fuel pump performance in certain high life fuel pumps. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective July 13, 2020.

AIRMETs concern weather of less severity than that covered by SIGMETs or Convective SIGMETs. AIRMETs cover moderate icing, moderate turbulence, sustained winds of 30 knots or more at the surface, widespread areas of ceilings less than 1,000 feet and/or visibility less than 3 miles, and extensive mountain obscurement.
