WAI Members Remember WASPs

More Than 100 Women Airforce Service Pilots Are Honored

It was both a touching as well as poignant effort... as Women in Aviation International members and friends carefully planned gravesite tributes or virtual message recordings to 110 Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) across the country during last month's Memorial Day weekend. In an effort to allow participants to observe best social-distancing practices, WAI used the last two weeks in May to visit gravesites and take photos to leave appropriate decorations in the form of flowers, flags, or other remembrances.

48th Fighter Wing F-15C Lost In North Sea

The Aircraft Was On A Routine Training Mission

A US Air Force F-15C Eagle crashed at approximately 0940 Monday in the North Sea. The aircraft was from the 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. At the time of the accident, the aircraft was on a routine training mission with one pilot on board. The British Coastguard coordinated the initial search after RAF Lakenheath F-15C went into the sea 74NM off Flamborough Head, Yorkshire. Humberside based HM Coastguard helicopters working with other aircraft in the area, and RNLI lifeboats from Bridlington and Scarborough assisted with the search along with other vessels. It's A Great Week For A SpaceWalk... Among Other Chores

The Spacewalks Will Continue Power Upgrades Begun Last Year

The Expedition 63 crew is starting the week getting ready for a pair of upcoming spacewalks and a satellite deployment. The International Space Station residents are also setting up research gear that will analyze hazardous particles and plasma crystals. The three NASA astronauts onboard the station teamed up today setting up hardware and reviewing plans for two spacewalks planned to start at the end of the month. Commander Chris Cassidy and Flight Engineer Bob Behnken checked out rechargeable batteries that will power up U.S. spacesuit components. Flight Engineer Doug Hurley looked at procedures to put on the spacesuits as well as steps a spacewalker would take during an emergency.

A/C Went 'Into A Steep Dive In Excess Of 10000FPM At A Calculated Groundspeed Of About 170 Kts'

On June 6, 2020, at 1523 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 172 airplane, N13520, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near New Washington, Indiana. The student pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight.
