MXR Technologies Announces New MXS Single-Place Aircraft

Unlimited Aerobatic Plane Uses Carbon-Fiber Construction

MXR Technologies, the Florida-based manufacturer of the MX-2 two-place unlimited aerobatic aircraft, told ANN Tuesday of the first flight of its new single place MXS aircraft.

Airshow pilot Gary Ward flew the maiden flight on March 31 and reported no major issues. Initial weight and performance numbers are coming in better than anticipated and the initial speed tests were also very successful.

MXR plans on another full month of flight testing. "Things are going better than we anticipated," said CEO Chris Meyer. "I am very excited as the airplane is very promising."

The MXS is said to be the lightest single place unlimited aerobatic aircraft ever produced, and also has the highest thrust-to-weight ratio.  It is manufactured out of 100% aerospace grade carbon fiber, the same that is found in the in high performance military planes such as the USAF F-22 Raptor.

Company officials state the carbon fiber materials offer lower operating costs... as there are no wood, steel tubes, or fabric to maintain.
