AOPA's Boyer Says GA Has Won First Round Of User Fee Battle

"We Understand That 67 Pages Of Questions Came Back"

It is by no means a final victory... but, perhaps, an indication that opponents have won the first round in the fight over user fees.

In a wide-ranging interview to be podcast on Monday, ANN asked AOPA President Phil Boyer (above) about the status of the FAA authorization bill that would propose changing the way our national airspace is funded.

"My understanding now, as late as talking to the adminstrator last week, is that there are so many unanswered questions to the proposal that [the airlines] put forth to the White House, that has to be vetted by the White House and the Office of Management and Budget," Boyer told ANN.

"We understand that 67 pages of questions came back," Boyer continued.

"As they've seen the mounting arguments... it appears now [the FAA] is not going to introduce the bill this year, but they're going to wait until next year... and none of us, including the administrator, knows exactly what will get through this process."

You'll be able to hear our entire conversation with Boyer on Monday. Stay tuned!
