AOPA 2007: Aspen Moves To Larger Facility To Handle Larger Product Line

Adds Two New Members To Growing Staff

Albuquerque, NM-based Aspen Avionics announced it has relocated its corporate headquarters from a 6,000-square foot facility to a more spacious 23,000-square foot building in the city's TechCommons Business Center. The avionics company also announced two new additions to its management structure at AOPA Expo 2007.

Aspen tells ANN its rapid growth in engineering and development has far outstripped the old facility's ability to support it, and necessitated a move nearly a year ahead of schedule. As the company is now in the final stages of certifying its exciting new Evolution Flight Display system, the larger engineering lab and improved office space will help hasten the product’s completion and transition into full production.

As ANN reported, Aspen introduced its Evolution Flight Display at AirVenture 2007. The company says the subsequent surge of orders made moving to a larger facility a priority for the company. The five-times larger manufacturing space in the new building will help Aspen accelerate its already-aggressive production ramp-up plans to meet a growing demand in the market, according to the company.

"This is much more than a move or a change of address for us," said Aspen’s President and CEO John Uczekaj. "The market’s enthusiastic response to our Evolution Flight Display line of products has validated our strategies. The additional space will enable us both to manufacture and ship products faster, and to better support our large and growing number of customers."

Aspen Avionics' new address is 5001 Indian School Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. The general telephone number is (505) 856-5034, and the general fax number is (505) 314-5440. Email addresses remain the same.

In addition to the larger facility, Aspen also tells ANN the company has expanded its staff, as well, with two key additions. Constantinos S. (Gus) Kyriakos is Aspen's new Vice President of Engineering, and Mark Ferrari has joined the company as Vice President of Sales and Customer Support.

Kyriakos will manage and lead Aspen’s growing engineering staff, and work closely with the company’s external engineering partners. Aspen co-founder Jeff Bethel will continue in his role as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and work closely with Gus to develop and bring to market innovative, quality products for general aviation. Kyriakos was most recently employed by Avidyne Corporation where he was Director, Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance Engineering.

In his new position, Ferrari will be responsible for Aspen’s worldwide sales activities, both through its Authorized Dealer Network and for OEM customers. In addition, he will build customer care programs to support Aspen’s dealer network and aircraft operator customers. Ferrari comes to Aspen Avionics from The NORDAM Group where he was Vice President, Business Aviation Sales and Marketing.

Prior to NORDAM, Ferrari had a successful tenure at Honeywell’s Business Regional & General Aviation division, where he began as a sales representative and worked his way up to Director of Aftermarket Sales.
