Avidyne Shows Off Large-Format Version Of MHAS6000 Multi-Hazard Avoidance System

FlightMaxEX5000 Display Gives Big Picture View of XM Weather, Traffic, EGPWS, CMax™ Approach Charts

Avidyne is bringing a large-format version of the MHAS6000 Multi-Hazard Avoidance System featuring the Avidyne FlightMax® EX5000 multi-function display (MFD) and TAS600 Series active surveillance traffic system to the market. It joins the FlightMax EX500 version as a comprehensive situational awareness package available immediately for retrofit installation in most general aviation aircraft with savings of up to $3,000 over individual system purchases.

The big-screen EX5000 version of the MHAS6000 is available in 10.4-inch diagonal portrait or landscape configurations for installation flexibility. The MHAS6000 is also available with the 5.5 inch diagonal EX500. Both have Avidyne's renowned intuitive ease-of-operation and deliver the highest resolution available for aircraft MFDs.

The MHAS6000 moving map can show flight plan, traffic, lightning, terrain, obstacles, and XM WX weather products such as NEXRAD and graphical METAR information in a single view. In addition to XM WX, options include Avidyne's FlightCenter™ two-way datalink capability for flight tracking and two-way air-to-ground text messaging services, as well as interfaces to Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems (EGPWS). The landscape EX5000 can also interface to the RDR2000 weather radar system. The large format of the EX5000 makes viewing the optional CMax™ Jeppesen JeppView® electronic charts even easier during approaches and while taxiing.

"With these new MHAS packages, pilots now have their choice of industry-leading MFDs, including the 5.5-inch diagonal EX500 and the 10.4-inch diagonal EX5000 in portrait and landscape configurations," said Mark Sandeen, vice president of sales and marketing for Avidyne. "Couple that with the choice of TAS600-series traffic systems, and interfaces to XM WX and other popular sensors, the MHAS6000 is unmatched for price, performance and overall value."

MHAS6000 systems with the Landscape EX5000, Bendix/King RDR-2000 interface, and a TAS620 Active Collision Avoidance System start at $34,985. MHAS6000 systems with Portrait or Landscape EX5000 with no radar interface, TAS600 Active Collision Avoidance System start at $21,985. Package prices represent savings of $2,000 to $3,000 depending on configuration. Other combinations are also available, as well as options for CMax™ Electronic Approach Charts and EGPWS interface.
