One Step Closer: Adam Receives FAA Production Certificate For A500

Shows Manufacturing Processes Comply With FARs

Aero-News learned late Monday night the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a Production Certificate to Adam Aircraft, giving the company approval to manufacture and deliver its A500 aircraft under an FAA-approved type design.

Issuance of the Production Certificate allows Adam to ramp-up production of the A500, by being able to inspect and apply standard airworthiness certificates under a system approved by the FAA. The FAA Production Certificate shows Adam Aircraft's Quality System and manufacturing procedures comply with the Federal Aviation Regulations.

Obtaining type and production certificates for manufacturing new products is a fundamental concept in the FAA regulatory framework. Inherent in this concept is the privilege for a PC holder to obtain a standard airworthiness certificate without further showing to the FAA.

"An FAA Production Certificate represents a major step toward the Adam Aircraft goal of delivering six A500 aircraft every month," said Adam Aircraft founder and CEO Rick Adam. "Issuing a Production Certificate means the FAA accepts the Adam Aircraft Quality System as one that will reliably produce A500 aircraft that conform to the approved type design."

"The FAA Production Certificate Board determined that Adam Aircraft has met all the requirements for issuing the certificate and our engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance organizations are poised to increase A500 deliveries," stated Darrel Watson, Adam Aircraft Vice President, Quality Assurance. "We look forward to working closely with the FAA and using our proven ability to manage Requests for Conformity (RFC) under our approved Organizational Designated Airworthiness Representative (ODAR) Manual as we take the next step in achieving a type certificate for the A700 AdamJet."

The A500 twin-engine piston aircraft has been Type Certified by the FAA, and the A700 AdamJet is currently undergoing flight test and development.
