FAA Designates Orlando Sanford International Airport as Class B

Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) is coming under the veil of Class B control as the FAA reclassifies the airspace around this busy Orlando area airport. While a recent press release made this airspace reclassification (oh well... they’ll learn) sound like it was the second coming, additional activity at Sanford seems to have convinced the FAA that Sanford needed the additional attention.

Recently, the Orlando Sanford International Airport has announced several major developments. Among them are the signing of a 30-year management contract for Orlando Sanford's domestic terminal, seven-year contract extensions with Air Tours and Air 2000, a $25 million planned expansion of the domestic terminal, and a re-classification of its airspace by the FAA from Class C to Class B.
