Calhoun was hired four years ago to address critical problems at Boeing, but the manufacturer is still mired in a crisis over the quality of its planes. Sun 'n Fun Home Sees Grown-Up Airline Service
Avelo Airlines will be opening a route between Lakeland International Airport (LAL) and Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN). With the new route, Avelo has become the first, and now only airline to serve the airport in more than 10 years. Lakeland offers a few travel benefits that make it a well-placed, central Florida hub. The nearby I-4 corridor and Americana vibe combine to make it a "refreshingly small, easy, and fast alternative to the much larger and busier airports in the region." The route will be run twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, using Avelo's new Boeing 737s. Introductory rates will see tickets between New Haven and Lakeland start at $72.

It's good news for those operating the LEAP-1A found in the Airbus A320neo family, or the LEAP-1B from the Boeing 737 MAX. StandardAero can perform high-pressure turbine shroud replacements for either version of the LEAP engine. The company moved pretty quick in getting ready to service them, since the news comes scarcely one year after it signed a CFM Branded Service Agreement covering the LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B.

Student Pilot Being Charged With Interference With A Flight Crew
In a breach of aviation security, a 19-year-old student pilot is now dealing with federal charges after multiple attempts to enter the cockpit of an Alaska Airlines flight. The incident, which took place on March 3rd during Flight 322 from SAN to IAD. Nathan Jones, the accused, left his seat several times during the flight, making three separate efforts to access the cockpit door. His actions prompted an immediate response from the flight crew, who, with the assistance of off-duty law enforcement officers, restrained Jones using flex cuffs. To further secure the cockpit, flight attendants used a beverage cart to barricade the entry.
