Embry-Riddle Records Three Confirmed Cases Of COVID-19

Prescott Campus Flight Operations To Temporarily Shut Down

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is deeply saddened to report that a second employee with our Worldwide Headquarters Campus has fallen ill with a confirmed case of the virus. The case was confirmed on March 26 by the Florida Department of Health. Worldwide employees have been working remotely since March 14.

A Daytona Beach Campus employee also tested positive on March 26. The employee was last on campus March 17, reported positive test results March 26 and is now feeling well.

Additionally, on March 25, the roommate of a Prescott Campus staff member tested positive for the virus. In an abundance of caution, Embry-Riddle will immediately shut down the Flight Operations at its residential campus in Arizona. Flight Operations will be suspended until our staff member, who currently shows no symptoms, can be tested. All who have come into contact with the roommate, as well as the staff member, have been notified via phone and email to self-monitor. Daytona Beach will continue its Flight Operations on a limited scale and with heightened precautions.

At Embry-Riddle’s Asia Campus in Singapore, a part-time student who had not been on that campus for several months tested positive for COVID-19 on March 25, after recently returning from the United Kingdom. The student is in stable condition in the hospital.

"As we continue to enhance health protocols across the university, Embry-Riddle pledges to transparently and quickly inform you of any COVID-19-related concerns. If you have been tested, notify Embry-Riddle Director of Health Services Pamela Petrone, at petronep@erau.edu. Your confidentiality will be maintained," ERAU said in a news release.

In all cases, Embry-Riddle health workers are cooperating with appropriate state and local officials.

Health Reminders

  • If you are sick, have been on a cruise ship, traveled to any international region, or came into contact with anyone suffering from COVID-19 over the past 14 days, do not come onto Embry-Riddle’s campuses.
  • All visitors must stop by one of our many wellness check stations before entering campus.
  • Always practice social distancing by standing at least six feet away from others.

Embry-Riddle continues to serve its 33,500 students around the world via award-winning online programs. The university migrated most courses online as of March 18. Residence hall will close as of March 29. Shutdown and move-out procedures are available online.
